How’s it going?: Orange Calderon
How are you doing and how are things going for you at the moment?
I returned to Texas from LA to do my bid with my family.
What are some of the key pieces of gear in your arsenal to help you stay active through this period, and why?
I brought along my DDJ-SR because it’s so convenient to travel with & I can still record my mixes for Beats1 remotely, as well as my weekly #OrangeSundays content while away from my home studio.
What are your top 3 watches right now? Movies, TV shows, Documentaries. Anything.

What’s your secret in staying productive and getting stuff done when you’re just around home all day?
Adderall. No jk I set a very detailed schedule and stick to it.
Wake up, workouts, music time, online courses, everything has a slot on the list and I just hold myself accountable. I’ve been working from home forever so for me, not much has changed in that department.
What would your advice be to younger DJs/producers who are struggling to find a direction and feel a bit lost through this period?
Having a plan is important. It doesn’t have to be a grandiose career breaking one but, putting together a schedule and sticking to it is the first step. Start with a small goal like 1 mix a week, posted to a platform and shared with friends. Stick to that goal, finish that mix No. Matter. What. See how many opportunities start to create themselves to celebrate that consistency and effort. The universe rewards hard work and dedication.
How do you think this period is going to impact the DJ community in the near future?
It’s going to be interesting to see how we bounce back from this. No question that it’s gonna be different even when things go back to “normal”. — But at the end of the day we’re Creatives; innovative problem solving is what we do. I’m not sure how yet, but I know we’ll figure it out and it’s gonna be great.
